Oma & Bella is a fantastic documentary made by our dear friend Alexa Karolinski: an intimate portrait of two awesome elderly ladies, Regina Karolinski (Oma) and Bella Katz, two friends who, having survived the Holocaust, now live together in Berlin and spend most of their time cooking Jewish food. We urge you to watch it as soon as it will be made available, which should be in around ten days or so. It’s our favorite kind of documentary: touching, warm, funny, and also very very sad and deep and meaningful. It will also make you want to call up your grandma, which is always a good thing. So, when Alexa told us she wanted to make a cookbook that would collect the movie’s recipes, we begged her to let us design it.
You can see some of book in these pictures by Bea De Giacomo, and you should run and go buy it from here or from our store here.
